Clyde's Story...
Hey everybody, I’m Clyde! I was recently rescued from the wild outdoors. Now I’m living the good life in a cozy foster home. But I hear that the best type of home to have is a forever home, so I want to find one of those!

I am an adorable ball of fun! I can be a bit shy at first, but once I know that you are one of the good guys, it’s time to have some fun! Like most kittens, I love to play. My favorite toys are mice and balls because I can swat them all over the place and then go chase them down.

I’m a very laid back little guy. I would like to find a calm forever home where I can sit back and relax, maybe watch a little Cat TV from a nice window perch. I don’t like lots of commotion, so I think I would prefer a home without tiny humans. I love other cats though and dogs aren't so bad either, especially if they’re laid back like me!

If you’ve been on the hunt for a sweet, affectionate little guy to spend your days with, then we just might be the perfect match!

The best way to ensure you have a good chance of adopting me is to fill out an online application at We take applications on a first come, first served basis, so applying quickly is always recommended!

Our adoption events are every Saturday, excluding holidays, at the Petco next to Trader Joe's in Short Pump from 11:00 to 3:00 (11331 West Broad Street, Glen Allen, VA). To find out if I will be attending this week's adoption event, please email

If you're not sure which cat you're interested in, or are just beginning to search for a companion, our adoption coordinators can help! Just fill out a short questionnaire at that will help us match you with our wonderful cats or visit us at our adoption stand.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Clyde, a Richmond Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
