Lets start an adventure together

Hi my name is Chevy and I'm super sweet and love to run and play. I didn't like being at the shelter where I was so afraid I didn't wag my tail when you passed my kennel. Now that I'm in a foster home and know I'm save and loved I can be the dog I am. I love to go everywhere you go and if you would let me I would be a lab dog. I'm so happy to see you that I like to please but my excitement gets the better of me quiet some time and I just have to jump to say hello. My foster mom says I need to stop this so she helps me to work on it. She also teaches me all these other commands like sit, stay, heel and shake.I'm a fast learner if you have a good treat in your hand. I would do anything for that treat.  At my current home I have play buddies so I get along great with dogs all sizes and even cats. My two legged foster siblings are showered with kisses and I'm being a good boy around the little ones too.

While in foster care my foster mom noticed that I had some issues with my rear leg and after seeing the vet it was decided I needed to have it amputated. I'm currently waiting for the surgery but I will be just as handsome if not even more handsome, just as active and just as lovable on 3 legs as I am now on 4 legs.

I would love to meet you and show you what a great addition to your family I can be.

I was scheduled to be euthanized, but San Antonio Pets Alive! saved me and now they are helping me find the forever, loving home that I have never known.

I am currently located at San Antonio Pets Alive!, and I am in a foster home. By adopting me, you not only give me a new leash on life; you also save the life of the additional dog who can be rescued from euthanasia and placed in foster care.

If you are interested adopting, please email with Pet name and ID#. Please allow us up to 24 hours to respond as all fosters work with us on a volunteer basis.

About San Antonio Pets Alive

About Our Rescue Group...

San Antonio Pets Alive (SAPA!) is a new organization that will be modeled after the very successful Austin Pets Alive (APA). APA was instrumental in helping Austin achieve their goal of no longer euthanizing healthy, adoptable pets from the city shelter. SAPA has teamed up with Animal Care Services in order for the city of SA to reach their no-kill goal.

In partnership with San Antonio’s Animal Care Services, we are implementing innovative and progressive programs to:

Rescue as many pets as possible off of the daily “euthanasia list”. In our rescue program, to not duplicate work of other agencies, we focus solely on the pets who have already been passed over by other groups and the shelters’ adoption programs and create programs to save their lives and find them new homes.

Our rescue program is focused 100% on the dogs and cats who are about to be killed. We wait until the shelters have chosen the pets they want for their adoption programs and other rescue groups have pulled the pets that they can take, then we go in and rescue the rest that we can fit into our programs.
