My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Miss LIBERTY, but those closest to my just call me LIBBY. I will answer to both. I have a dream, an American dream, and I am hoping that you will help me fulfill it. I would love to celebrate 4th of July in a new home that I can call my own. My foster parents promise to help find me a wonderful family so I can enjoy my future. They are pretty sure I didn't have a very positive past. They would love to see justice served to my former owners. The previous people who had me obviously didn't treat me with the love and respect that I so deserve. I was found as a stray dog in Southern Indiana and ended up in a county animal shelter. I was so sad when no one came for me. I was very ashamed of my appearance. I was dirty, needing a good, long bath and brushing, and I was just covered in ticks. The shelter volunteers could see through all the grime and knew that I was a beauty inside and out. I have to admit that I am feeling pretty good about myself now. I have been cleaned up and those disgusting creatures are no longer calling my body home. I now have the softest, fluffiest brindle coat. People are always trying to figure out just what kind of breed I am. The shelter called me a Spaniel mix which is definitely a possibility. My foster family is calling me an All American Mix. I am a great mid-size model. I weigh just 33 pounds and am just knee high... get it knee high on the 4th of July. (If you don't understand, ask a farmer!) The vet, who I have also stumped with my DNA, thinks that I am a pretty young thing. He thinks that I am around 3 years old. I have been a perfect house guest in my foster home. It was pretty obvious that I was used to inside living when I came in and jumped in a chair first thing. It is still my favorite place to hang out and my foster family calls it my throne. I am still relatively new in my foster home, but I have been accident free. I crate very easily, especially if my favorite treats are used as a bribe. I have been very quiet in my crate. My good behavior has earned me bedroom sleeping rights. I get to sleep in the master bedroom. I even get to snuggle in bed for the night, but I get too hot and end up sleeping at the foot of the bed. I am not going to be a big playmate for a child or other dog. I would much rather be a cuddle partner. I will keep you company as you read a book or watch your favorite documentary. I am in a home with other dogs, but we pretty much ignore each other. I would rather get all your pets and attention, but I will share if I have not other choice. My foster home doesn't have kitties so they can't tell you for sure how I would do with cats. I walk very nicely on a leash, until I see a bunny. Then you will need to hold on tight. I take treats with care and I love to ride in the car. I am in pursuit of happiness. Could that be with you? If you would like to know more about me, LIBERTY, please call my foster mom, Darla, at 630-406-9405. She would love to tell you more about me! You will want to know that my adoption fee is just $200 and includes my recent spay surgery, my up to date vetting and my microchip!
