My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi I'm Jake! I was pulled from a shelter in Ohio with several other beagles. I'm young, probably no more than 2, and full of energy!!!! My foster family has to watch me like a hawk because I like to chew on things I shouldn't, even with the endless toys available here. Sometimes I hear my foster parents say things like "Hey - Jake just ran off with your shoe!" or "Jake took off with your bra!" or even "Jake is trying to pull the rug though the dog door!" You get the picture - I'm a lot of fun!

I have probably always lived with other dogs and I get along really well with the other pups in my foster family. I'm not sure if I would like living alone, but I would certainly love living with another playful dog. My foster family has a cat and I am respectful of him, so we get along fine. I didn't really know what a walk or harness was when I came here, but after a few weeks of practice, I'm a champ now! I love my walks and can't wait for the next.

Now for a few comments from my foster family:
Did you read that Jake likes to chew?!? Jake is also an avid "recycler" of dog waste, so we go outside with him to pick up his and other dogs waste right away. OK - those are his issues. Here is the good news - Other than the chewing, Jake is well behaved. He's 100% house trained and he's crate trained too! Surprise - he does chew on his crate pad though! He is a very sweet, cuddly and loving dog. He's a smaller beagle, weighs 24 pounds, and is very handsome as you can see in his pictures. He's rather quiet and does not bark that often. Jake was quite shy when he first came here, but warms up quickly. He is startled by loud noises. There are no kids in his foster home and he seems scared when he hears kids playing or kids run by when we are out on his walks. We would not recommend him to a family with young children. Fill out an adoption application if you think Jake might be a fit for you.
