Hi there!

My name is Ginger and let me tell you- I’ve already had quite the life. I don’t quite know how this happened, but somehow I ended up  in a scary place called a ‘shelter’ in South Carolina. There were a lot of other dogs in cages and it was loud and cold on that cement floor. Then the amazing folks at Lucky Dog came to see me and I got to travel all the way to the DC area in hopes that someone there will want to take me home. I'm waiting every day for my chance to find someone to love, cuddle, and play with!

Please read below for more info about me and email if you are interested!

So a bit about me:  I am intelligent, attentive and loyal -- smart as a whip!  I have been in a foster home for a month or so now and am quickly learning my house training and house manners.  I love playing with toys and sitting by my foster mom's feet once I'm tired out.  I also LOVE playing chase with other dogs!  I lived with many other dogs for a couple of months and all I did was play, play, play.

Once I'm tired out, I love to snuggle up on the couch, too!  I am a champion snuggler and I always want to be as close as possible to my humans, nestling cozily in the crook of your leg or your lap.

I've also got these great big ears- that will do whatever you tell them to (with some proper training, that is)!  Right now, I’m about a year old and around 30 lbs, making the PERFECT size for an apartment, house or condo!

I would do well with a doggy sibling since I like to play so much!  No cats please, I like to chase.  Sometimes I get a little nervous when small children run around and make lots of noise, so I would do better in a home without small children for now.

I’ve been daydreaming everyday about my new family, and I've decided I would love to go to a home with some folks that will take me on hikes, runs, and trips to the dog park to play with my canine friends. I don’t think I would be able to stop wagging my tail if I had my very own human who will give me lots of belly rubs and get me cool toys to play with. If my new family would take me to obedience classes so that I could use my smarts to learn tons of new tricks that would be amazing.  If you think I might be the right dog for you, then please let my adoption coordinator know! I do hope to hear from you soon!

Woofs and tail wags,

Like most shelter dogs, Ginger may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained.

The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Sheila at!

About Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a group of highly motivated and highly dedicated volunteers. We spend countless hours making sure that wonderful dogs find loving forever homes. We don't do it for money -- we do it for the joy a dog can bring to its new family; we do it for our love of animals; and we do it to save lives!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!
