My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

9/21/16 - ADOPTION PENDING!

Adoption Fee: $350

Fostered in Louisiana

Age: 6 years

Weight: 9 lbs.

8/14/16 - Abby is evolving in her foster home. She is a great dog, happy and playful. She is sturdy and strong, not a delicate flower. She would do best in a home with no other dogs as she gets jealous and tries to hover over them to get more of the attention from her people making sure the other ones don't get as much. This makes a scuffle start and Abby doesn't back down. She isn't a chow hound and could probably be free fed. She is an absolute hunter. She stalks everything critter wise outside and gets obsessed with it. Lizards, squirrels, birds, frogs. You even have to make her come in sometimes because when you call her name, its as if she is in a different world when stalking. At night is the worst because that's when all the creatures seem to come alive. lol

She loves to sleep with her humans, but isn't clingy as far as following every step you take. She does like to be able to know which room you are in and that you are there. She is doing well with her potty habits. She loves going for walks.

Her hair is growing back very nicely in a variety of blondes, brown and red colors. Nice coloring. Abby is looking for a mom and/or dad that wants a girl that isn't too prissy, not to independent, but will still love her unconditionally.

6/28/16 - Abby is a SWEETHEART! She was with the same owners from birth until December of 2015. At that time its seems that the couple just no longer wanted Abby and the reason to us is unknown. They found Abby another home and that home did not have the funds to take care of Abby medically and she was suffering. In December, she had a full coat of hair, but since the new owner could not get flea prevention for her, Abby constantly had fleas and scratched and chewed on herself until she had a skin infection and had lost the majority of her hair from her mid-section down. Her new owner realized that she could not help Abby, so reached out to surrender her. She has since been to the vet for all her shots, tested for heartworms (thankfully she was negative, despite not being on prevention), had her teeth cleaned and a huge fatty tumor on her chest removed. Her skin infection is gone and her hair is starting to grow back.

Abby could not be a better baby. She is happy, playful, LOVES her people, co-exists fine with other dogs (but doesn’t really play with them), is fine around cats, will play with toys if you entice her, sleeps so good in the bed with her foster mom at night, follows you everywhere and is great company to have around. She is a hearty eater, so free feeding is out of the question. She could stand to lose about a ½ lb. but don’t tell her that. Lol

Abby is great taking a bath and loves being dried and brushed. She willingly comes to you to be rubbed and doesn’t want you to stop. When you leave, even for the shortest period, Abby is overjoyed to see you upon your return and acts as if you left for days.

Once all her hair grows back, she is going to have a beautiful coat and be even more gorgeous than she is now. If you feel that you could be the right fit for Abby, please fill out our online adoption application. But realize, since she has been given up twice previously, she is going to be very picky choosing her next FOREVER home.

6/27/16 - BIO COMING SOON!
