My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Philip is a wiggly, happy-go-lucky Bulldog mix, who wants nothing more than to snuggle up with his humans or romp a bit with his doggy friends! He has the most beautiful, soulful golden brown eyes that are ringed with black, and he will steal your heart when he gazes up at you with those eyes for some pets and belly rubs!

Philip came to us with his sister Lil from a high kill shelter in Chicago. He was very sick with an upper respiratory infection, but made a complete recovery with lots of quiet rest, and medicine! Philip was surrendered to the shelter because he was supposed to be a "guard dog", which he (thankfully) failed at miserably, as he adores people and welcomes everyone he comes across with a huge happy grin and wiggly butt tail wags! He is also missing about 1/3rd of his tongue, but that doesn't bother him one bit! He just drinks his water a little slower than other dogs and takes his time when eating!

About Phil:
--- Philip is very dog friendly and when he was at the city shelter he was one of the main dogs the volunteers used to do dog testing for other dogs because he loved all the dogs!
--- Philip loves to go for car rides and after a few minutes gazing out the window usually lays down for a little nap.
--- To say Philip loves kids is an understatement and he is currently in foster with a 15 year old girl. He has had the opportunity to be surrounded by a gaggle of young girls fawning over him and he loved every single minute!
--- Being such a social boy, although crate trained, Philip would much rather be with his family than crated. It will be important to continue to work with Phil so that he stays comfortable when he's crated, and to give lots of praise (and treats) when he goes into his crate. Phil is currently using an "airliner" style crate which provides him with comfort and does now allow for him to get out when no one is home.
--- Philip so enjoys human company that you can literally take him anywhere and he's happy…
As long as he's with you.

Lastly, his foster wanted to provide a little more about him: "Philip is one of the most easy going, loving, friendly dogs I have ever met. He's happiest when he's with you, and will be an amazing life long companion!"
