My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This guy is a bundle of joy that makes you smile! He is a spunky little beagle with an easy going disposition who acts a lot younger than his estimate 7-8 years. He came from a family that had allergies so he has only had one home, but he adjusted to his foster home beautifully. He used to live with kids so he is accustomed to a chaotic household, but has fit in well with my husband and me and our 2 beagles and 2 cats. He is crateable when you leave the house and does not make a fuss! I have not tried leaving him out in the house because he loves his crate so much. He even uses his crate for resting when the door is open. He is good at the vet! He is cat friendly – has not tried to chase or nip! He is responsive to "no" (as in leave cats alone, leave food dish alone until Bella is done)! He is respectful of the pack (i.e. when he doesn’t wait for Bella to finish licking her bowl and she snaps at him, he backs down immediately). He knows sit very well (for treats of course), he intuitively understands leave it and wait, rides in the car like an expert, walks pretty well on leash (like most beagles wants to forge ahead, but have been using gentle leader and he is really doing great with no pulling). He takes treats gently. He is good in strange places – does not shy away from other dogs or people or loud noises or storms. Just a real steady personality!

He loves to be outside (we have fenced yard), but he comes when called! He is excited if he thinksyou are leaving for a walk, but he calms down quickly once he knows you are relaxing - loves to sit with you on the couch and will snuggle with you, too. On his couch that is. Our dogs have a special couch and only certain ones are allowed to sit with us to avoid skirmishes. He learned quickly to go sit on his own couch and is happy there.

He is housebroken - like all beagles in a new home, will need to be shown how to let you know he has to go out, but goes on command once you are outside. He can sleep in his crate, but will wake up during the night to go out (or maybe he was lonely), so he now sleeps in the bedroom in his own bed on the floor. He sleeps through the night very calmly. He would do well in a variety of homes, but will need a lot of exercise and playtime. A home with children and/or other dogs is preferred; however, as long as he is not an only dog, he would do fine without kids, too. Home with a yard is preferable because he loves to do zoomies and to roll in the grass, but he will adjust to anything, just probably no apartments. His foster home will love to tell you more once you are an approved applicant!
