My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi Everyone! I’m very excited to meet you, I enjoy meeting new people! My name is Barley, just like my yellow color. I’m a seven year old boy who wants the company of my humans and other dogs of any kind. I don’t remember cats but I don’t think they’d be a problem for me, I like everybody! I am a very sweet boy that just wants to be loved. I have a gorgeous, soft coat that I am very good getting groomed – both bathed and brushed. I ride well in the car and I don’t try to get up on your furniture. I don’t think I’ve ever seen or been in water before but I learned to swim over the weekend and must say I really like it. I want to learn new things. I was found as a stray but I know I lived in a loving home in my past where they took good care of me. I’m not really scared by anything – loud noises, sudden movement, etc., not even when my foster brother and sister are, they bark a lot, I don’t. I’m pretty much a quiet boy, except when I think it’s time to eat – then I’ll whine a bit and tell you so. Someone overfed me though so against my protests, you’ll need to do what’s best for me and keep me on a diet until I reach my ideal weight. My new found joy of swimming should help and I walk well on a leash and love to do anything so long as I’m with you - exercising together would be great! I protest a little after being left alone in my crate but I settle down quickly. I don’t have any accidents while in my crate and sleep through the night. I do well in the house during the day so long as you let me out every so often - I have gone in and out the doggie door but I haven’t caught on yet that I can actually use it by myself to go potty outside. I don’t get into anything I shouldn’t in the house. I am very eager to please you and am highly food incentivized so I know I’ll figure out the doggie door soon or learn any tricks you want to teach me!
