Papa Mike's Story...
This sweet and peaceful boy is one of the Valencia 17 rescued by LDRNM early this year. Big Papa Mike is about 6 years old and weighs about 7 pounds. He was on medical hold as his jaw was wired to try and fix where it was broken in 2 places. They suspect he was mauled by another dog when he was a pup. Unfortunately the bones didn't heal, but they cause him no pain and he can eat and drink. He is very sweet, loves to cuddle give kisses and sleep under covers. He would do best in a quite home. Mike is houuse trained uses dog door and doesn't take any fussin' around from anyone and he's still a total sweetheart! If you would like to make Mike part of your family, please complete an online application at and be sure to include his name at the top.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Papa Mike, a Tijeras Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Tijeras, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Tijeras.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tijeras already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tijeras breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tijeras paves the way for another one to be saved.
