SNIPPP needs FOSTER HOMES in Northeastern California's Modoc, Lassen, and Shasta counties! Our ability to rescue companion animals like the one you're viewing right now depends on us having safe, loving foster homes for them to go to. Can you give an animal in need a second chance by opening your heart and home?

Hi I'm Miko, and for the past seven years I've lived with my beloved owner who saw that I was trained to sit, stay, come, fetch and shake. She died suddenly and now I find myself in need of a new loving home.

I got to sleep with her on the bed, am very much a house dog, and she loved to feed me human treats so a diet is now on my agenda.

My foster parent says I'm a really smart girl, I get along with all the other dogs in the family but not the cat, so my new forever home needs to be kitty free.

I'm strong, vocal, protective and love long walks in the woods. So if you need a friend who is totally devoted to you and lots of fun, I'm your girl.

Love Miko

Please note: if you are looking for a particular breed of dog, please be aware that most of our adoptable pets come to us as STRAYS, so we have no way of guaranteeing what breeds they are. When we state a particular breed or combination of breeds for an available dog, we are simply making our best educated guess based on the appearance of the animal and input from our veterinarians. If you must verify breed makeup, we will cooperate with you to do genetic testing at YOUR expense before you commit to an adoption.

SNIPPP prefers to have adoptive homes within the northern California counties of SHASTA, LASSEN, MODOC, SISKIYOU, TRINITY, TEHAMA, and HUMBOLDT to make it easier to do home checks and transport adopted animals to their new homes.  Although we are willing to make exceptions, especially in cases of animals with special placement needs, the costs and arrangements for additional transportation outside this area may need to be handled by the adopting individual or family.

SNIPPP requires an adoption contract, a home check, veterinary references, and an adoption fee. All SNIPPP animals are spayed or neutered (unless they are not yet old enough, in which case adopters will be required to provide proof of spay/neuter at the appropriate time and will be entitled to a $50 refund of a deposit paid at the time of adoption). They are all up-to-date on vaccinations, have received appropriate veterinary care, and are micro-chipped. If they are dogs at least 6 months old, they have been tested for heartworm and are on preventative.

Some of the animals on our website are COURTESY  LISTINGS. Different adoption requirements may apply for these animals, and they may not have received the same level of veterinary care; please ASK the person offering the animal for adoption any questions you have regarding vaccinations or health status.  SNIPPP makes no warranties as to the validity of statements made regarding the personal characteristics of animals listed on a courtesy basis.  Adopters are advised to consult with a veterinarian or animal behavior professional to confirm health or temperament characteristics of any animal considered for adoption.

Completing an Adoption Application does not guarantee that you will be able to adopt from SNIPPP; our primary concern is with finding the most appropriate homes for the animals in our care. Many of them have gone through rough times, and need an especially understanding person to help them realize their full potential. To complete an application, you will need to register on our website.

Many of our adoptable pets are at Redding Petco, 1603 Hilltop Drive, from 11 to 2 at least one Saturday each month--please check our Events section to see what's coming up. We look forward to seeing you there! If you have applied and are approved as an adopter, we can arrange for you to meet individual pets you may be interested in at other times, too. About SNIPPP (Spay & Neuter Intermountain Pets & Pet Placement)

About Our Rescue Group...

SNIPPP is an all-volunteer, non-profit, no-kill rescue organization that started in early 2007. Our main goals are to:
*encourage pet owners to spay and neuter their companion animals through education and a voucher payment system, and
*provide resources to help companion animals remain in loving homes
*offer companion animals in need safe, loving foster homes with our volunteers while we find the best permanent home for these pets.

We welcome volunteers!! We especially need more FOSTER HOMES, and financial donations are always appreciated. If you are skilled with computers, fence-building, dog training, fundraising, grant writing, record-keeping, animal grooming, newsletter production, pet transportation, or coordinating adoption events, please contact us to get involved in this worthwhile effort. We look forward to hearing from you!

Come Meet Our Pets...

You can see our pets available for adoption "in person" at our adoption events. We try to be at Petco in Redding at 1603 Hilltop Drive from 11 to 3 at least one Saturday of every month (call 530 336-6006 to verify our schedule). We look forward to seeing you there! If you have applied and are approved as an adopter, we can arrange for you to meet individual pets you may be interested in at other times, too.

Our Adoption Process...

We require an adoption contract, a home check, veterinary references, and an adoption fee of $75. Completing an application does not guarantee that you will be able to adopt from SNIPPP; our primary concern is with finding the most appropriate homes for the animals in our care. You may request an application from us by telephone, mail, or email.
