Dottie is an angel! She is calm and gentle and you never hear a peep out of her. She is working on her housetraining and is doing very good. I hope to report very soon that she is house trained. She currently lives with dogs and cats and gets along well with all. She does not have an aggressive bone in her body. She recently had 7 puppies and was the best mother ever. She is crate trained and goes in easily with a treat. She is heart worm positive and is currently going through treatment. Heart worm disease is not contagious to other animals or humans. All medical costs are paid for with donated funds. When she is tests negative for heart worm disease she will be eligible for adoption. About Our Shelter...

We are the Dorchester County SPCA Chapter in South Carolina. We find loving homes for pets in need. In 2006, we took in more than 4,000 homeless, abandoned, abused and neglected animals. Our adoption package includes spay/neuter surgery, a free health check, a rabies shot, a microchip, DHLPP or FELV vaccination and testing for heartworms and feline FIV.

We are open for adoptions Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from Noon to 5:00 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We are closed on Wednesdays.

We are located at 136 Four Paws Lane in Summerville, SC off Highway 78.

Our Adoption Process...

Adopters will need to fill out an adoption application. For renters, we need to be able to contact the landlord or see a copy of the lease agreement showing the pet policy. Applicant's pets need to be up to date on their vaccines, Rabies, and Heartworm prevention.

Our adoption fees are:

Puppies under the age of 6 months and small dogs under 30 pounds are $150

Adult dogs are $80

Kittens under the age of 6 months are $120

Adult cats are $65
