This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.

We would like to introduce you to a sweet, shy girl who is waiting to open up and blossom into a confident companion with the help of your love. Meet Rosie! Rosie appears to be a Shepherd mix around 2 years old. She is a sweet girl who can be timid when first meeting new people, but with love, patience and time, she bonds quickly and will become your loving side-kick. We do not know why, but Rosie is very afraid of kids, so she can only go to a home with no kids or one with children over 12. She is submissive with other dogs and takes very well to the smaller ones between 20-30 pounds. She seems to have something of a prey drive and has not lived with cats before, so we would recommend a home with no cats and no small fluffy dogs. She is currently making good progress with house training and walks well on the leash. Rosie does not like crates and will not go in one. Her new family must be okay with her having free roam of the house. In her southern foster home, Rosie has been non-destructive when left home alone and loose. She has recently found her voice and likes to bark when she is excited, so apartment living may not be for her. Rosie would love to have a fenced-in yard to run and play in, but if not available she will need other ways of getting enough off-leash play and exercise. Rosie will blossom in the right home and with the right guidance; basic training in a group class environment will be essential for Miss Rosie, as it will help her learn manners and commands, as well as build her confidence. Rosie's previous family had a change of household circumstances, so they surrendered her to a shelter. Rosie is waiting for her new fur-ever family to come along so they can start a new life together. Don't keep this great girl waiting too long, please fill out an application and get ready to bring Rosie home!

**Additional info you should know -  For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label.   Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption.  There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.

Our Adoption Process...

Step 1: Find Fido

Review our online dog bios, email us if you have any questions. At SOS, we want to make the RIGHT right match, and that means helping you and Fido start a relationship – sometimes from a long distance.

Take your time, explore your options, consider your home and what kind of companion will fit in your lifestyle.

Step 2: Complete Our Application

Once you think you have found the right dog for you, please complete our online application.

At SOS, we don’t just want to make a match, we want to make the right match. To do this, we need your help; we know our dogs, but we don’t know you yet – our application helps us get to know you!

Step 3: Have a Talk

We will review the application and if it appears to be a good match for the selected dog, we will arrange for a time to talk with you over the phone.

Step 4: Meet Your Match

If, after the phone interview, the match seems to be a good one, we will be happy to arrange a meet-n-greet with you and the dog, if the dog is local. Meet-n-greets will be scheduled in the order they are requested.

Step 5: Application Screening

Once everyone has met (if the dog is local), and the match seems to be a good one, a designated SOS volunteer will check your landlord, vet, and personal references, as relevant. We may also require a home visit or adopter meeting.

Step 6: Finalize The Adoption

If the match is a good one, you will be informed via email of the adoption decision, and provided with instructions for how to pay the adoption donation and complete our adoption contract/addendum(s).

Step 7: Pick Up Your New Best Friend!

Once the adoption is finalized, congratulations! We will contact you to make arrangements to pick up your new family member!
**Please note that additional vetting, quarantine and/or waiting periods may be required depending upon your state of residence.

All of our dogs are age appropriately vaccinated prior to adoption. All of our dogs have been spayed/neutered and tested/treated for common canine disease.
