Missy's Info...

I am already spayed, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Missy's Story...
Missy is a sweet, fawn-colored, Shepherd mix. She is approximately four years old and weighs 60 pounds. She has a low energy level and is crate-trained and housebroken. She is good with kids, other dogs and is cat-neutral. She had just had a litter of puppies before her owner surrendered her to Nashville Metro Animal Care and Control and her underside is still in the process of drawing up.

ADOPTION: Training (for both the dog and the family) increases the probability of a successful adoption. We feel strongly that training is an essential part of responsible dog ownership and we now require training for every dog placed through the MTGSR program. The cost of adoption is $500 which includes the $250 adoption fee and a training fee of $250 due at the time of adoption.

For the adoption fee, the dog will be spayed/neutered, current on all vaccinations, current on heartworm/flea-tick preventatives and microchipped.

The training fee will include a plan tailored to that specific dog and that dog's needs (obedience training, behavior modification, etc.) and typically includes three private training sessions.

PLEASE NOTE: Our philosophy is “Rescue locally, place locally” which means we primarily pull dogs from shelters in the Nashville area AND we prefer to place our dogs in homes within a one-hour drive of Nashville. If you are outside of the Nashville area, please consider adopting a homeless dog in your local community.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Missy, a Nashville Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Nashville, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Nashville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Nashville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Nashville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Nashville paves the way for another one to be saved.
