Perhaps you remember Ruby & her story? Ruby is the feral dog several of our volunteers tried to capture for months to get her safe under our rescue.
We finally caught Ruby the day after she gave birth to her five puppies, a mother's instinct is strong and using that we were able to get her and her pups to safety. Read all about Ruby's Rescue of her five puppies and herself here: http://www.wcnc.com/mb/news/local/cell-phone-video-captures-rescue-of-5-puppies/131044660.
Ruby is now living safely with her foster family among several dogs and a cat. She does well and has bonded with her foster family but is still somewhat fearful of strangers and new situations. Ruby's furever home will need to be very patient with her because it will take her a while to trust and to realize she won't be abandoned. She is going to need a handler who knows how to work with dogs who have trust issues, and one who has patience. At first, Ruby won't be the kind of dog to curl up with you or give you kisses, but winning the trust of this girl will earn you a lifetime of love.
Because Ruby was an outside dog for so long she is heartworm positive, but she has been receiving her treatment and it will be passed on to her adopter.
