Laverne's Story...
Yevette, Henry, Barry, Laverne and Ezmerelda  are 13-week old littermates who were born in our foster care.  Their mom was trapped in a feral colony nearby when she was pregnant, and brought to us so that she could deliver her babies in a safe environment.  Laverne is a very pretty medium-hair pale silver tiger, with just a touch of fawn on one paw.  She's very playful, although just a bit scared, but purrs quickly with attention.

All the kittens have been spayed/neutered, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, microchipped, and have received age-appropriate shots (FVRCP boosters will be necessary soon).  The adoption fee for each kitten is $200.  If you're interested in adopting one of the kittens, visit our Adoption Center to complete an application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Laverne, a Salem Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Salem, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Salem.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salem already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salem breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salem paves the way for another one to be saved.
