Darin's Story...

Darin is a 13-week old long-haired gray male, with a white chest and a thin, white streak up his entire nose.  Like his sister Beatrice, Darin has pure white whiskers and white paws, and is a busy, playful little boy.  His plush fur and ear tufts will remind you of Maine Coon cats, though he doesn’t claim any real relation to them.

Darin has been neutered, microchipped, tested negative for FeLV/FIV and has received age-appropriate shots (he will need boosters soon).  If you're interested in adopting Darin, please stop by our Adoption Center and complete an application or request an application via email by sending a message to

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Darin, a Salem Domestic Longhair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Longhair for sale in Salem, or seeking a Domestic Longhair kitten from a breeder in Salem.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salem already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salem breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Longhair breeders who help with Domestic Longhair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salem paves the way for another one to be saved.
