Dexter's Story...

Dexter is a 7 month old tiger, found as a stray/feral kitten in October.  He has been caged throughout his time in foster care and is a bit timid at first.  Once he relaxes a bit he allows petting and is also very playful.  Dexter has a little brown mouse and is quite the hunter -- he’ll carry the mouse around, growling.  His ideal home will keep him confined to one room for a long time, allowing him to grow more comfortable with open spaces at a slow pace.  He also will do best with another rambunctious kitty that will not be put off by rough play.  Dexter is neutered, microchipped, tested negative for FeLV/FIV and is up-to-date on shots.

If you're interested in adopting Dexter, please stop by our Adoption Center at PetSmart, 10  Trader's Way, Salem, MA on Saturday or Sunday from 11-4.  You may also request an adoption application via email, that you can complete and submit for approval, by sending a message to adoptions@palsanimallifesavers.com.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dexter, a Salem Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Salem, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Salem.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salem already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salem breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salem paves the way for another one to be saved.
