Hanna's Story...

Hanna and Heloise are 12-week old littermates.  Their mama (Zelda) was abandoned while pregnant and along with babies Austin and Carl have been adopted.  Hanna is a very pretty calico tabby with gorgeous markings. She has a buff nose, white mouth, and white lining her eyes.  Heloise looks exactly like her mama, a solid gray with copper/gold eyes.  The kittens have been spayed, microchipped, tested negative for FeLV/FIV and have received age-appropriate shots (they will need distemper boosters soon).

If you're interested in adopting a cat or kitten, please stop by our Adoption Center at PetSmart, 10 Trader's Way, Salem, MA on Saturday or Sunday from 11-4.  You may also request an adoption application via email, which you can complete and submit for approval, by sending a message to

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Hanna, a Salem Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Salem, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Salem.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salem already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salem breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salem paves the way for another one to be saved.
