SHEBA - ADOPTION PENDING's Story...
Darling little Sheba (as in the QUEEN of Sheba) is a Brussels Griffon with a very high opinion of herself and is just full of life! She is very busy, always underfoot and very lovey-dovey with her humans, especially if you have cheese. She is a little shy at first, but once she trusts you, her true vivacious, smarty-pants personality will emerge. Also, she expects to sleep in bed with you at night and will be highly offended if she is left out of anything you are doing!
Sheba needs an active person who works from home or can take her to work with them and has experience with toy dogs with BIG personalities. She is so funny - just zooms around everywhere and wants to be involved in everything – lots of energy and determination to get her way! She is house trained if she is given the opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours, otherwise, she may have accidents in the house, especially if you ignore her. Diapers are recommended at least in the beginning. Sheba is fearful of being picked up until she gets to know you, then she wants your attention ALL the time. She gets along well with other small dogs as long as they let her be the boss! She has always lived with other small dogs and will do best with a small male playmate, as she sometimes has little tiffs with other alpha female dogs.
Sheba’s forever home must have a very securely fenced yard and no children or large dogs. She must always be securely harnessed and leashed when outside a fenced area and crated or seat belted in the back seat when in a vehicle. Sheba’s birthday is January 30, 2012 and her ideal weight is about 8 lbs. She is a little underweight now but is eating well so should be perfect by the time she is adopted. Griffs are a long lived breed so she is just barely a teenager in Griffy years. She is spayed, UTD on vaccinations, micro chipped, heartworm negative and taking preventative. She also had a full dental.
Sheba is being fostered near Nauvoo Illinois and we prefer to place her within a short driving distance. Our dogs may never be shipped in cargo and we do not transport them to adoptive homes. They are never placed in homes with invisible (electric) fencing. Doggy doors are OK as long as they are secured at night and when you are gone. Sheba is small enough to be carried away by a hawk, owl, coyote or other predator so may never be left outside alone. You may submit an adoption application for Sheba at http://www.abgra.org/. Questions may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org but please read her story first.
