Mega's Story...
3.3.17- Mega is finally ready for adoption! Please fill out an application at www.hubbardshounds.com if you are interested in adopting this sweet pup! Adoption donation is $300.

Mega is a 5-7 year old dachshund who was apparently tied out on a chain in Florida before he was rescued. Unfortunately, years of being outside with no heartworm prevention left him with the worst case of heartworm I have ever seen. The financial burden along with the time involved is huge. It will probably be another 6 months before he is even available for adoption, but wanted to get his story out there for people to realize how important HW prevention is. This baby doll could have died and is still not out of the woods due to his owners negligence.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mega, a Homer Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Homer, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Homer.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Homer already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Homer breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Homer paves the way for another one to be saved.
