My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fostered in Spokane, Washington

Hi! My name is Lucas. I came to Power of the Paw from California after my family decided they couldn't keep me anymore. I hear horrible things about those shelters down there, but I was rescued before I had to step foot into one. I began my trek to Idaho and once I got here, I realized how awesome my life had just gotten.

The main thing you need to know about me is I love to give hugs. All the time. I just want to be close to you. I'd make an awesome lap dog, a great hiking partner, or a fantastice friend for someone who likes dogs more than people. I can truly fit in almost every situation. I'm considered a medium dog, so many of you may like the fact that I'm a bit tougher than a small dog, but I'm compact and can travel anywhere.

I get along beautifully with other dogs and did well with cats in my foster home. I'm curious about their behaviors, but I won't hurt them. I had a small human in my foster home as well. I never showed any aggressive or fearful behavior that would make POTP think I wouldn't be good with children. I also do very well in a crate. I whine a bit when I first go in, and then of course if I can see you. I will calm down though, and stay quiet so we can all relax and sleep.

Car rides are enjoyable for me as well. I'll lay down where ever there is room, and sleep quietly until we get to our destination. Unless of course, you get food along the way. Then, I'll be waiting for you to share your food and I'll be waiting very close to you so you don't forget about me.

You might notice I have a pink nose. When I got here, it was very dry and damaged. Power of the Paw took me to the vet, and I had a biopsy done just to make sure I didn't have an autoimmune disorder. It actually looks like I had been out in the sun for too long with a pink nose, and the sun damaged my skin. All I ask is that you make sure that I don't stay out in the sun too long and if we need to be out in the sun for a while, make sure you put sunscreen on my nose.

Other then that, I am completely healthy and ready for my forever home! Head on over to http://powerofthepaw.org/adopt/dog-adoption-application/ and fill out the application. I'm ready to add joy to your life!
