Facts about Roma

  • Breed: Mastiff Mix
  • Color: Gray/Blue/Silver/Salt & Pepper
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Female
I bet you the first thing that caught your eyes was Roma’s gorgeous charcoal coloring. She is nothing short of stunning. Her luxurious coat is soft, shiny & healthy. Her eyes sparkle in the sun, her smile illuminates from ear to ear, her tail constantly sways in the wind & her dazzling personality is simply hard to overlook. You could say Roma is our shelter beauty queen. Breath taking & oh so cuddly!

Roma is not your typical 2 year old girl. She’s not afraid to get dirty or let her guard down & entertain you with her silly antics. Rolling on the grass & wiggling all around is one of her favorite things to do! Actively pursuing a hiking buddy, someone who wants to get in shape or a family who thoroughly enjoys the great outdoors. This girl adores exploring local trails, checking out the neighborhood or spending the day at the beach. Being so cute she wades in the water to cool off playfully splash around & tries to eat the bubbles. Watching her you can’t help but chuckle & smile.

Having a basic knowledge of her obedience Roma knows the meaning of sit, paw, down & stop. Attentively listening for your next request, longing to further her education & knowing with a little time, dedication & effort she will be a star student. Her main objective in life is to make you proud. She admits her leash skills require some work. She walks in leaps & bounds with burst of energy that might catch you off guard. If something lures her attention she’s intrigued to check it out. When the moment arises circle her focus back to you & watch soon this will be a challenge of the past. Roma is also already housebroken just give her time to get acclimated to her new surroundings & routine.

Roma doesn’t understand how to interact with her furry friends & becomes bratty. Her lack of being able to read their body language causes her a lot of stress & anxiety so it’s better to just avoid them all together. Besides, she loves the companionship of humans & if you ask her she’d probably tell you she’s one of us! Little kids are a bit much for her though. She sees their playful nature & she wants to play too BUT she is such a big strong girl she is likely knock one down as she zooms around the yard or comes running down the hall for dinner. So for this reason alone we are seeking an adult home for her.

Looking for someone who will help her grow into her new home. Someone who will offer her guidance with clear concise directions to not only enhance the skills she already has but to acquire so much more. Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain. So why not find your dancing shoes & come meet Roma today. Loyal, grateful & loving are some of the many traits of Roma.

Note: As with all of our dogs, we strongly recommend obedience classes for new owner and dog to create a life-long bond with the adopted dog based on trust, respect and rewarding training experiences. We are offering dog training classes through FMAS Wagtime Dog Training. You can check out more information at We can help you train practical skills you use every day with positive reinforcement training. Our shelter dogs are strays and we observe and assess their behavior at the shelter which may be somewhat different in a home environment. In addition dogs adopted from the Manchester Animal Shelter are spayed/neutered, microchipped and have received their Rabies and distemper vaccinations as well as other necessary medical care such as flea treatment. All dogs are also heartworm tested. Some prudent care such as heartworm medication is not provided at the shelter and should be taken care of at the earliest convenience upon adoption.

About Friends of Manchester Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

We believe all animals are deserving of life, respect and care. Our goal is zero-population-growth through spay/neuter programs and services that focus on education, medical care, fostering and adoption. Friends of Manchester Animal Shelter is a non-profit organization which started in 1996. The shelter takes in homeless, abused, and abandoned animals in the city of Manchester. We provide shelter, medical care, and spay/neuter to every animal that comes through our doors. In operation for nearly two decades, the shelter has helped provide care and find loving homes for over 20,000 animals.
