My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HOPE is a 7 year old spayed black female Lab who weighs 78 pounds. Hope is a happy dog who likes to be with you and get attention. She spent a lot of time outside before we took her and really enjoys being inside a lot more. She retrieves a few times then decides that enough for now I would rather be with you. Likes to go swimming. Plays tug. Likes to meet new people and dogs. Hope would like a house with a yard that she can play in. Kids 10 and up Hope has been around neighbor's kids and nieces and nephews ages 3 to 12, she was good with them. Good with other dogs, played with neighbors dogs. Knows sit and come. Pulls a little on lead better with an Easy Walk Harness. House trained. From the Rescue Coordinator: Hope was turned in because the family was moving. She lived in the yard and garage, would bring her in when the weather was bad or it was too hot. She's a bit overweight, does well on leash and is pretty sweet. She is approved for kids 10+. More info soon!

Update: Hope is a very silly and goofy girl who makes he fosters smile every day! From emptying the toy bin to inspect each stuffy and ball, to her penchant for exploring every corner of the house, she is such a curious pup and seems so much younger than her 7 years. If she thinks there is something behind the sofa, she doesn't mind belly-flopping over it to check. And after a few days being shy of the stairs, she is up and down all the time and must poke around in every room. Hope likes to follow her people everywhere and has a severe case of "fear of missing out," so she never fails to squeeze her way into the bathroom if that's where someone is headed. She really enjoys petting and is so affectionate with everyone in the family. Hope is so much fun to be around. Even in the heat, Hope loves to trot after a ball and she really enjoys a good tug of war. She walks great on the leash and continues to have good house manners. She enjoys comfy spots and a perch where she can keep an eye on everyone. Anyone looking for an easygoing couch potato will love Hope.

Update: Hope arrived at her foster home yesterday after a long road trip and settled right in with the two resident labs, finding her spot on the couch, and taking care to do her business outside. She is just what you'd expect from a 7 year old girl: easygoing, good manners, and full of love. Hope walks fine on leash, although she isn't sure what it's all about yet, and doesn't seem bothered by squirrels or other little critters. There's a cat staying with us and Hope appears completely uninterested in her, so may be good with cats. She's the perfect dog for someone looking for a gentle and well-mannered companion. She enjoyed meandering around the yard this morning, just sniffing around and exploring.
