Jerome's Story...
Hey there friends! I'm a low-rider just a trundlin' through town, and I found my way here to the SPCA. It's been nice to be here a spell! I've made loads of new friends and gotten some yummy treats to boot. But, if you don't mind my saying, I sure would love to find a place to hang up my hat for good. I don't ask for much when it comes to my forever home. Some snuggle time and ear rubs are a must, along with a spot on the couch. I take things nice and easy, so would fit in just about anywhere. As long as you don't mind a pup who wants to stay close and get lots of love, I think we will get along famously. I also don't seem to mind the company of other dogs. I'd likely do best with a canine companion that takes life at an easy pace like me, so talk to the SPCA about arranging a time for me to meet with any dogs you have currently. Well, my comfy bed here at the shelter is callin' my name, so I'm going to say toodaloo for now. I sure am excited to make your acquaintance though, so if you think I may be the one for you, stop by today!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jerome, a Harrisonburg Basset Hound/Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound/Beagle for sale in Harrisonburg, or seeking a Basset Hound/Beagle dog from a breeder in Harrisonburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Harrisonburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Harrisonburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound/Beagle breeders who help with Basset Hound/Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Harrisonburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
