Update! I have been returned due to no fault of my own. But hopefully my next home is forever, and that it's with a family who is home a lot because I love to be with my people!  I am very low-key, and while I'm not an in-your-face type of dog, I like to know you're nearby.  The only thing that has changed  since I was adopted two years ago is that I've gained a little too much weight.  But I am working with my foster family to drop some pounds.  Oh, and I'm about 7 years old now.  But I'm still amazing!

Hi, I’m Auna! My foster mom calls me a cuddle bug, and I'm a sweet, easygoing gal.  I love all sorts of attention, and I haven’t met anyone I haven’t liked yet!   I’m about five years old, and I was seized by animal control because my previous owner left me outside with no shelter, food, or water!  But that has not dampened my spirits.  I am happy, but very calm, and just want to be near my people.  I am great with dogs that are my size and larger and I enjoy playing.

I do well with children, and my foster sister always tells me I’m a good dog and that I’m pretty. I like small dogs, but don’t pay much attention to them. We just steal each other’s treats off the floor.  I like to be outside to run around and burn off my energy. I am house trained and have not had one accident since being brought inside. Mom is VERY proud of that. I do not like being put in the crate, but I can’t yet be trusted outside of it yet.  So when mom and dad leave, I have to stay in for my own safety (and they always make sure to come back to me!).  So, for the time being, I only need to be crated when no one is home. Other than that I have free reign of the house, and I even get to sleep in the bed with my foster mom and dad (not like I gave them much of a choice though ;-) )

My mom says I’m very smart, and I do know some commands like "sit" and "stay", and I almost always come when I’m called (unless I find something more interesting!). And I walk well on the leash. Oh, and did I tell you I LOVE car rides?!? I always just jump right in and enjoy the ride!

So do you think I would be a good fit for your family?? If so, contact your adoption coordinator.  Or if you're in our adoption territory, you can fill out an application here:  www.southeastgermanshepherdrescue.com .  I am being fostered in Virginia Beach, VA.

Our adoption process consists of a telephone interview, a call to your veterinarian and a home visit. If you have any questions about the adoption process please contact sgsrescue@gmail.com .
