Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Merle is one special boy. From his cool blue eyes to his "never met a stranger" outlook on meeting new people, he is just a completely wonderful dog.
Merle is 4 years old and found himself homeless when his owner could no longer care for him. Merle is good with female dogs and walks quietly alongside his foster home's older Aussie, but is defensive with some male dogs. He was recently neutered, so this may change in a few months.
He can be afraid of the resident cat (you would have to see the cat-his respect for this cat is well founded) and he loves to ride in the car. He has a medium energy level. Enough to keep up nicely for hikes or jogging, but he settles nicely next to your feet afterward. He is said to be good with older children, and we have not tested him with young ones, so children over 12 please.
Merle is learning some basic obedience commands and working on not pulling on leash. He is crate trained, house trained and is a very dedicated boy to his people. He needs an Aussie experienced home. Merle has tested Heartworm negative and is on Heartworm prevention as well as flea-tick prevention and is up to date on vaccines and dewormed.
All CTHDR dogs are actually located in Lebanon CT. CTHDR requires that the family interested in adopting (including current dogs) meets Merle and spends some time with him prior to adoption. We do not condone adoption prior to meeting, nor do we transport dogs to adopters.
If you would like more information and possibly an appointment to meet Merle, please complete an application and give your references permission to speak with a CTHDR representative. Once approved, we will contact you to set an appointment for you and Merle to meet!
