Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Jasper is a rough sable male collie about 8 years old. He was left in the shelter's night deposit box when his family lost their home in foreclosure. This fate seems especially sad considering that Jasper is a loving dog that is exceptionally loyal and wants to attach himself to one person. He will be the right person's true Lassie, spending every possible moment by that person's side.
Jasper enjoys the company of some dogs and really enjoys playing with his foster mom's puppy. However, he can be cranky with adult dogs, especially those he sees as competing for attention with his human companion. We think he should probably be placed as an only dog, but he may get along well with the right dog, mostly likely a younger female who wants to play. He has not been tested with cats
Jasper loves to go on his walks and he now walks well on a leash. He's being clicker trained and he enjoys working for his treats and his dinner. He now sits politely for each meal. His adopter will need to continue his training and socialization, but he is doing very well. Because of his lack of socialization, we cannot place him in a home with young children.
Jasper's ideal home would be with a single person or couple, with older children or retired, where someone is home with home with him much of the day.
