Jewel is a very pretty short-haired Tortie who is probably about 2 – 3 years old. She is on the slender side with a shiny coat and huge eyes. Jewel can be very talkative at times and will let you know when she wants attention. She is a little unsure about being picked up and held on your lap, but she doesn’t bite or scratch if you do pick her up. She likes to get her back scratched and sometimes her chin. When she wants to be petted she will rub against you face and hands, but will be sure to let you know when she’s had enough. She also likes to walk back and forth between your legs…usually when you’re trying to cook!

Her favorite activity is sitting in front of the window and watching the action outside. She is very sweet and just wants to spend her day relaxing in a comfy spot. One thing she doesn’t like is having her picture taken. I have yet to get a good one of her!

She seems to be intimidated by dominant cats. She would likely do okay in a home with another kitty as long as it isn’t aggressive. She is not shy with the humans once she gets acquainted, but just doesn’t socialize much with the other cats. She needs a family that will let her come to them for loving and not push her to be a lap cat. She may become more of a lap cat if she doesn’t have so much competition for attention, though. I would love for her to find a nice quiet home where she can be spoiled. Maybe she would come out of her shell and be a little more playful. I think she would really like to play more, but is too timid with all the other cats around. However, she is aggressive enough when it comes to eating. She doesn’t miss any meals! 

There are two dogs in the house and she doesn’t mind them. I imagine she would be scared of a dog that would chase her, though. She has not been around any children since we got her, but based on her timid personality I think she would do best with adults or older kids who will let her come to them and not try to pick her up and carry her around. She would probably make a wonderful, loving companion for an older adult, too. She would love to be spoiled!!

Because she is so shy she is very nervous and stressed at adoption events. You won’t see the real Jewel there. If you are interested in meeting her, please let me know and we can work out some other arrangement. This is a very special girl who needs to find a wonderful home to call her own. Could you be her loving family?

Please contact me if interested in meeting my beautiful Jewel.

About St. Louis Pet Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

St. Louis Pet Rescue is a non-profit rescue group focusing on saving pets from local animal control facilities and other neglect situations.

We do not have a facility. All of the pets we rescue are in loving foster homes. Foster homes provide love, care training, and, if needed, rehabilitation to the pets. This also allows the pet to be more adjusted when they enter their forever home since they are used to a home environment (versus a kennel at the pound).
