Posted 7/8/16. Diego and Donna are two INCREDIBLY cute and sweet and affectionate Chihuahuas that came to us from a local animal shelter. They were taken there by their owner who had too many dogs and could no longer provide for them. Thew two are brother and sister and are definitely bonded. They don't cling together all the time but they always look for each other and want to be sure each is near by. When we first took them in, Diego and Donna had very little hair due to severe flea dermatitis (see picture...). After all necessary veterinary care, testing, meds, skin soothing baths, proper diet and lots of TLC they are now ready for their forever home. Both are 4 years old and they weigh about 8.5 lbs. Diego has short hair and Donna has medium long hair. She looks just like Yoda! They are both very affectionate and Diego likes his back rubbed all the time. They love to be with their person, they love to snuggle, they love going for walks and run around and explore in a securely fenced in yard. For Donna and Diego we are looking for a quiet/calm home where they can stay together and get all the attention they crave. We would like a home with a fenced in yard. They do get along fine with other dogs - they love to play with them! but Donna can be a bit dominant and possessive of her person and so we really don't want them to have to compete too much for attention with other dogs in the household. Diego and Donna are neutered and spayed, they are current on vaccinations including Rabies, they tested negative for heartworm and they are on heartworm/flea prevention. If you are interested in adopting this bonded pair please fill out an adoption application on our web site by going to the following link:
An application must be filled out prior to setting up a meeting. The adoption fee for both is $200. No children please.

About The Nest

About Our Rescue Group...

The Nest,is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization. Our mission is to rescue, restore, and re-home animals that come from local animal shelters or from individuals who contact us directly.

We are guided by the following ideals:

We will always place the physical and mental well-being of our animals above our own and that of other individuals, making a constant effort to act as an advocate for the animals we serve.

We will to the best of our ability assist in the care and placement of animals that require our assistance, regardless of breed, age, demeanor, physical or behavioral health, because we believe that all animals at any stage in life and health have inherent value and an important place in the world in which we all live.

We will provide educational support for those individuals who seek our assistance, believing that educating the public is one of the keys to keeping animals in their homes and preventing senseless euthanasia.

We will provide ongoing care and homes for animals we cannot place in adoptive homes, because we believe that animals that make their way to The Nest should be cared for until their last days.
