Facts about Coco

  • Breed: Lhasa Apso Mix
  • Color: White
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Female
Update on Coco: since getting her earlier this summer, Coco now has a full coat of pretty white hair and has gained weight! She is a great dog, ready to find her home. this is Coco Lhasa, a nine year old female Lhasa Apso who was finally released from a back yard breeder. Coco is a sweetheart! Quiet and crate trained, she loves a good belly rub. She is getting along fine with other dogs in the household. Cocoa came with a bad flea allergy and has a lot of thin hair on the back half of her body. She has gotten good flea control and is getting a good diet to spiff up her skin and coat. I think Coco should have many good years to provide great companionship to someone who appreciates a quiet and loving dog.
Her adoption fee is $200

The ideal home for this Real Good Dog will have a secure fenced yard. A solid history of excellent vet care for current or previous pets is required. Preference will be given to applicants who have specific breed experience.

Please visit to submit an electronic application if you are interested in adopting this or any other Real Good Dog.

We adopt dogs from Memphis Animal Shelter when we can. The shelter has an 83% euthanasia rate, one of the highest in the country. Unfortunately, any dog coming from Memphis Animal Shelter, and most other shelters for that matter, will have been in contact with contagious illness. Even though the dogs have been in foster care and appear to be in good health, they may become stressed when changing environments and exhibit signs and symptoms of illness. If you have other pets, they need to be up to date on vaccines before bringing a shelter dog into your home. We will take the adopted animal back, but we are not responsible for your other animal's vet care. We always disclose where the dogs have come from. Please ask for any information about the dogs and exercise due caution if you have immunocompromised animals.

About Real Good Dog Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are an all volunteer rescue organization with NO physical facility. We depend on individuals to foster the dogs in their home. The rescue was started by a native Memphian who wanted to do as much as possible to reduce the number of fine pets euthanized annually at our high kill Memphis Animal Shelter. Over the past ten years, we have accepted a lot more found dogs and owner surrendered pets that never had to go to a shelter. We accept what we feel we can live with and find homes for. We can't do nearly enough until spay/neuter laws and responsible pet owners outnumber the irresponsible pet owners.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We have weekly adoption events in the Memphis,TN area thanks to Hollywood Feed Stores and the Memphis Farmers Market. Our events are always posted on our website, and on the answering machine for our main phone number 901-276-7751

Our Adoption Process...

We have an online adoption application and this starts our process. Locally, we meet the adopter after approving the application to make sure everyone is compatible. For a long distance application to be approved, we rely heavily on a history of past pet care as verified by a veterinarian. Our adoption agreement states that the animal will be treated as a family member, given all necessary wellness care and emergency care and that if you are no longer able to care for the pet, you will notify the director of Real Good Dog Rescue about your need to rehome the pet.
