My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LUCY is a 7 year old spayed black female Lab who weighs 70 pounds. She is a lovely dog who loves people. She came right up to the Happy Tails volunteer with her tail wagging. She was very mannerly and let the volunteer feel her all over. Lucy does well on lead. Lucy was dog tested by Happy Tails and did great. She thought the Happy Tails volunteers’ male Australian Shepherd and female Mountain Cur had come to play with her. Lucy’s eyes lit up, she wagged her tail, and she did a little dance waiting to meet them. She was very mannerly with both of them and didn’t bark or jump. She was just excited to have some visitors. Lucy’s previous owner says she chases cats, so no cats for this girl.
Lucy comes from the country and has no exposure to big cities. Her former owner also says she’s good with children, but there’s no history of her living with any kids. So, Lucy’s approved for kids ages 10+.

Update: Lucy is a happy, silly 7 year old girl. She loves people and is great with other dogs. She is trusted to be left alone in the house and doesn't mind playing dress up with the teenage kids in the house. Lucy is trying to convince her foster family that it's time to make a trip to the beach (see gallery)

Update:Lucy and those who love her cannot figure out why she's not yet in a forever home. She is an absolute joy and everyone who meets her will agree. Lucy loves the young teenagers in her foster home, and also loves all of the strangers they bring to the house. The more the merrier in Lucy's mind! She has the perfect energy level and knows to play when it's time to play and to chill when it's time to chill. She has great house manners and is trusted to be uncrated when her people aren't there. Lucy also got to have some glamour photos taken of her this weekend, and they really show her wonderful, happy personality. Check them out in the gallery.

Update: Lucy is just the best! She doesn't need to be crated and doesn't touch what isn't hers. Lucy loves squeaky toys and playing fetch. She walks well with her Easy Walk Harness and will go to the door to let you know she would like to go out and do her business. Lucy loves other dogs and does very polite greetings. She also loves people and thinks everyone she meets is just the best! Lucy rarely ever barks, doesn't counter surf and doesn't beg; She's pretty much the perfect dog! Lucy is also doing very well in a townhouse setting so she is now approved for Townhouse living. In the Gallery, you can see Lucy patiently laying down waiting for her breakfast to be served. She will happy wait until you say "Okay!" and then enjoys her breakfast.

Update: Lucy is a sweet, happy 7 year old girl who loves to play in the yard, is trusted to be left out in the house uncrated and is great with new people and other dogs.

Update: Lucy is a super sweet, well behaved 7 year old girl. She has wonderful house manners; no counter surfing, doesn’t get into anything she’s not supposed to, and is relaxed in the house. Lucy loves going for walks and walks nicely on her harness, but can pull a bit when she sees a pesky squirrel. Lucy does well in her crate throughout the day; she cries a bit at first, but settles in quickly. She has enjoyed meeting other dogs on her walks and is very polite during greetings. Lucy takes treats gently and likes to sleep in bed with her foster human at night. She loves playing with toys and is a joy to foster.
