I have a very sweet, spayed female black cat that I need to find a home for. She is six years old, and we have had her since she was six months old. She loves attention. She needs to be the only cat in the house, but does fine with dogs. We had a cat who died two years ago and they were very close. We got a kitten a year and a half ago, hoping he would cheer her up. Sadly, she wants nothing to do with him. She needs a home with no young children. We have had two more children since we got her and they seem to make her very nervous. She needs a home with someone who has a lot of patience to let her warm up to them. She is very friendly to us but has always run and hidden when people have come over. She has always been an indoor-only cat and so has not had vaccinations since she was a kitten. Please e-mail kristy.hook83@gmail.com if you can give Allie the home she needs. It is urgent that we find her a home soon! [Posted 7/7/2016]

About Shelter Animals Rescue Group (SARG)

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a small, all-volunteer, 501(c)3 nonprofit rescue group, with emphasis on mixed-breed dogs and cats. We adopt primarily from our local animal shelter, although we occasionally take in hardship cases. We also assist individuals in our area by advertising on our website animals they need to rehome, if the animals have been spayed/neutered. We gratefully accept donations, and we need volunteers for many events. More than anything, we need foster homes.

Come Meet Our Pets...

As a volunteer group, we do not have a facility. Our animals reside in foster homes and boarding kennels. We show them regularly at the PetSmart store on Parkside Drive in Knoxville the second Friday of each month, 4 to 8 p.m., as well as by appointment.

Our Adoption Process...

Cat adoption fee is $125, and $145 for dogs. We attempt to match the animal's characteristics with the family and their lifestyle. We require an application form, which becomes part of the adoption contract, a personal or phone interview, veterinarian reference if applicable, home visit, and an additional agreement about how the animal will be treated. Cats must be indoors only, not declawed. Dogs must be fenced or leashed when outdoors and treated as part of the family--indoors as much as possible, and always at night. Adopter agrees to provide regular veterinary care, and to return the animal to us if they ever give it up. We reserve the right to check on the animal's welfare from time to time, with appropriate notice.
