Sonic is a beautiful 6-year-old, 60-pound Lurcher who has been waiting for his forever home since July! He is just as beautiful inside as he is outside! Sonic was saved by a Lurcher rescue group in Ohio, and brought to Heartland. Lurchers are often bred and kept in terrible conditions, and used to race and hunt. Sonic may not have had the easiest life but he is a happy, relaxed boy! He is one of the dogs we love to take to adoption events because he is so gentle and easy-going! Sonic loves nothing more than a game of fetch followed by a long nap! Sonic is great to walk on a leash; he is so light and graceful, and would make a great running partner. Because Sonic loves his toys so much we don't think he would do well sharing them in a home with another dog. If you are looking for a wonderful new family member, come fall in love with Sonic!

About Heartland Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

Heartland Animal Shelter is a no-kill humane 501 c 3 organization dedicated to finding homeless pets forever homes while educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets in order to help with the pet overpopulation problem.

Dr. Herbert Preiser, DVM and founder of Heartland Animal Shelter wanted to make a difference by saving the lives of pets who might otherwise be euthanized because of the over-population of unwanted pets. Dr. Preiser opened Heartland Animal Shelter in October of 2002.

Heartland's vision is to eliminate euthanasia to any adoptable animal. Heartland asks for your support by spreading the word about the importance of why pets should be spayed or neutered in order to prevent overpopulation of cats and dogs. Together we can make a difference!
