My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oriel is a joy! She’s a cheerful little blonde Cairn that tolerates my alpha female's pestering without aggression. She plays with toys, but can be a bit protective of her toys. She is not destructive and I have left her free to roam in the house with the other dogs while I am running errands. All other times and at night, she is crated. She does fine in the crate all night until she hears the waking sounds of the household, then she lets me know that it's time for her to be released from the crate!
She will benefit greatly from obedience training but I am impressed with how well she behaves. Oriel has spent her life up to now as a commercial breeder dog. She did not receive the dental care she needed until she came into rescue, so she has lost all but 5 of her teeth, and suffered a broken jaw from the infection in her mouth! She’s recovering nicely though, and it hasn’t stopped her from wearing a continuous smile. She will jump up beside you on the couch, but is not clingy or a lap stealer. She stays just close enough for an ear rub or a belly scratch!
Oriel is a beautiful Cairn with a flowing, silky coat instead of the rough double layer coat. It’s wonderful to watch her shake her coat; it all floats into place. Her age is estimated at 6 -7 years old -but she acts just like a teenager! She’s a happy loving girl who just has to be where the action is!
