Rheita came into rescue with the “Once in a Blue Moon” group. She has two sisters – Amoris and Grimaldi, and they are all named after geographical features of the moon. These girls have just been diagnosed with an inherited disorder commonly called CMO (Craniomandibular Osteopathy), Lion’s Jaw, or Westie Jaw. This is characterized by abnormal growth of the mandible, or lower jawbone. Treatment for this condition is management of pain and fever during flare-ups as they are growing. Monitoring of weight is also important because when they’re in pain, they're reluctant to eat. Puppies with this normally grow out of it by the time they are a year old. Rheita is definitely a people pleaser. She enjoys attention - and likes to be the center of it. When you call her name, she comes trotting over. If she’s ready for attention and you haven’t called her, she’ll come over and put her little front feet on your leg and beg for attention. She has a funny little trot that makes you smile.
