Structure, routine and training will be important for Rocky. Given his natural abilities and desire to connect with people, Rocky will learn quickly and love the challenges. Like most Jacks, Rocky needs a job--some mental and physical stimulation. Training and other activities would be great fun for all concerned.
Rocky has house manners, is not destructive and is comfortable in a crate. He is generally good with house training, marking only occasionally. He does know some commands, is good on a leash and loves car rides. He does, however, have springs in his feet, jumping in the air when excited.
Rocky engages with new people easily now, having learned to expect kindness from them. He does well with some dogs, although noisy and lunging at first, especially with the large ones. He will challenge dominant male dogs, but the behavior can be corrected appropriately when on leash. He would love to be the only dog in the family, but would be fine with females and males who don't challenge him.
Rocky is excitable and sometimes has difficulty calming himself. Therefore we do not recommend him for a home with kids. As he is a Jack, he would likely not be good with cats. What he does need are love, attention, a calm home, a family who knows Jack Russells and has time to provide the training and activity Rocky needs. Some good things DO come in small packages.
