My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Poor Lucy has had a difficult start to life. She was found as a stray running loose in Brooklyn several months ago and was brought the shelter. She was very thin and depressed. After a few days in the shelter she received a wonderful behavioral evaluation, and we were thrilled to be able bring her into one of our foster homes. It looked like Lucy’s life had taken a turn for the better.

When she arrived in her foster home, her foster mom noticed she was limping and seemed to be in pain and it was determined she had a torn ACL. Lucy’s luck had just taken another turn for the worse. Thanks to very generous donors and the generosity of our veterinarian, we were able to get her the ACL surgery on June 1st. Everything went very well and she has recovered beautifully! Now all she needs is a forever home!

Lucy is about two years old 45 pounds. She is good with the dogs in her foster mom (male and female) but does like to be “in charge”. She is bouncy and active and loves attention. She is definitely a lap dog, and loves to snuggle. She has the cutest face, and we laugh every time she looks at us with her goofy smile and gorgeous eyes. She is great with people of all sizes, but we think she would do best in a home without young children.

Lucy loves ice cubes and long walks. She does pull a bit on the leash so she needs some training in that area. Her only bad habit is that she thinks toilet tissue is the enemy and she won’t hesitate to drag it out of the bathroom wastebasket to destroy it. Lucy can sit, shake, and is completely housetrained. She is crate trained, but she is also perfectly behaved when left loose in the house while her foster family is at work during the day (as long as the bathroom door is closed). She is spayed, up to date on all her shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She has a huge heart and a great personality and would be a perfect fit for most any family.
