My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Reesie and I am a sweet, 2 1/2 yr. old, chocolate-colored beagle that needs to find a new home. I was initially found as a stray and picked up by animal control. I was rescued by Penny Angels in Nov. 2015 and sent to a foster home in North Carolina while awaiting transport to New Jersey. I thought that I had found my forever home when I was adopted in December, but things didn’t work out for me; my owner became ill and recently surrendered me back to Penny Angels. Now, I have to start the search for my forever home all over again.

When I was in my foster home, my foster mom learned a lot about me in a short period of time. This is what she wanted to share with everyone: “Reesie is a petite girl, weighing about 20 lbs. She is a little timid and shy at first meeting, but warms up quickly. She followed me around the house after just one day here and loved to lie in bed with my husband or crawl in his lap. (He called her ‘Reesie cup’.) She ran from us in the yard on occasion, but that improved with time. She tried to be affectionate and wanted to trust people, but she was insecure during the time that she was with us, so it might take her a little time to adjust to her new surroundings.

“Reesie did not have any accidents in her foster home and learned to let herself in and out through the dog door. She would have to be taught different rules in your home when you adopt her. She met our dogs and cat and had no problem with them. She even met my 2 year old grandkids and did fine with them.

“Reesie LOVED going on walks; she walked great and seldom pulled on the leash. She enjoyed her daily walks and would therefore make a great hiking, walking, and running partner. She did fine when she walked by new people, but since she is a little shy AND afraid of loud noises, a loud and new situation with people might scare her. Smaller environments would probably be best for her, especially when meeting her for the first time.

“Reesie slept very well in her crate (or on a dog bed) at night. She was the quietest dog I ever had; she did not bark, howl, cry, or whine in her foster home. She loved to lie on the couch and upstairs on the bed. She was a good traveler and usually found a place in the car to sleep or looked out the window.

"Reesie would make a wonderful companion dog. In fact, it would be best if she had another doggie friend in her new home to make her feel more secure. She is easy and sweet, likes to be around people, and just wants to be loved.”

Reesie will be at Petsmart on Saturday if you would like to meet her. If you are a patient person and you think that you can provide her with a quiet and loving home, please fill out an application and submit it to Penny Angels. An adoption application for Reesie can be obtained by visiting our web site at www.pennyangelsbeaglerescue.com.
