OPIE's Story...
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION

THIS IS OPIE — a 13-lb, 3-yr-old, tan-with-black-mask Shih Tzu with 3 legs! This poor little guy was dumped in the shelter with a broken leg. When our vet opened up the leg to repair it, he realized the damage was too severe and had to amputate. But Opie doesn’t doesn’t let a missing leg slow him down! He plays fetch with the best of them! Loves his walks too! He can be a little possessive of food and toys, but we’ve been working with him on it. Opie is looking for a home where someone is around most of the time, as he doesn't like being left alone for more than a few hours at a time. Kids over 8 yrs old are welcome! He’d love another small, playful canine companion in the household as well — someone to show him the ropes! He seems to be housetrained in his foster home, but we never guarantee. Do you have space in your heart for this adorable tripawd?

Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID

If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. We will contact you once it has been reviewed.

Please bring a copy of your application and pictures of your home and yard if we have not done a home check! Most importantly, if you have a dog, make sure you bring him or her to do a compatibility match with the dog you are interested in adopting!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

OPIE, a Los Angeles Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Los Angeles, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Los Angeles.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Los Angeles already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Los Angeles breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Los Angeles paves the way for another one to be saved.
