Facts about Laverne

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Brown Tabby
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Female
  • Hair: Short
DOB: June 15th, 2014

I am an affectionate young girl that loves head rubs! I will bump my head against your hand to let you know I want attention from you. I love playing with my humans and never get tired of the "bell on a ribbon" toy. I am a big fan of treats and when I hear the sound of the plastic bag being opened, I'll come running. Treats are most tasty when I eat them from your hand. I am a curious kitty that likes to know what you're up to and will sit beside you when you're on the computer so we can surf the internet together. When I'm not relaxing beside you, you will likely find me at my other favourite spot - the top of a tall cat tree. I'm fascinated by birds and squirrels and enjoy watching them outside through the window.

I am used to a calm and quiet household and get nervous when surrounded by a lot of activity. Therefore, a home with young children and energetic pets would not be the best match for me. I would be most comfortable in a home where I can have my own space when I want to relax and have some alone time.

It will take me a little while before I fully trust my new family, but once I do, it will be so worth the wait. If you can make me feel safe and promise to love me forever, I think you may be the special person that I've been waiting for.

About Toronto Cat Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Toronto Cat Rescue is a registered, no-kill charity run by volunteers.

Our mission is to rescue and find homes for abandoned, sick or injured cats from situations of abuse, neglect or imminent euthanasia.

Our vision is for Toronto to be a city in which no adoptable cat is killed and rescue organizations such as Toronto Cat Rescue are no longer needed.

Our registered charity number: 889-198-727-RR-0001

Our Adoption Process...

Decided on the cat or kitten you would like to adopt? Please call 416-538-8592, or email

An adoption counsellor will return your call and give you more details about the cat you are interested in and ask some questions about your home to make sure the cat will be a "purr-fect" fit. We are happy to answer any questions you may have as well.

You will be supplied with the foster home address to have a meet and greet with your kitty. If both parties are happy, you can sign the TCR Contract of Adoption, pay the adoption fee and take your cat home with you in a safe carrying case.

Adoption fee is $175 per cat. This ensures that the cats that come into our care receive the attention they need, are spayed or neutered, and receive a rabies vaccination at the appropriate age. It includes 6 weeks of free pet insurance. For City of Toronto residents, the adoption fee includes a mandatory City of Toronto cat license that is valid for one year. As you can imagine, these fees only begin to cover our costs; donations and ongoing fundraising efforts carry us the rest of the way!

1. ALL senior cats (8 years or older) have an adoption fee of the adopters choice, vs. our standard adoption fee of $175.

2. Our adoption fee for an adult bonded pair (8 months or older) is $100 per cat vs. $175 per cat.
