Facts about Laverne

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Gray Or Blue (Mostly)
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Female
  • Hair: Short
DOB: January 30, 2014

I'm a particular young cat with refined tastes. I'm looking for a special person who's *got what it takes* to take care of someone as awesome as me.

I don't especially care for small humans or other animals, even cats. Although if you have an easy-going, relaxed feline already in residence, I suppose they could serve as my minion.

The top of the fridge is my favorite spot. I feel safe there and an lord of all I survey. I love treats, so every time I hear the sound of plastic bag being opened, I get very excited and run to you.
I love to sneak outside. I will look for opportunities to slip out, so keep an eye out.

I love planning to rule the world, so I will sit beside you when you're working on the computer. If you please me, you may pick me up and rub my head.

Note from foster family: Laverne is a good cat with a big heart, but she needs someone with patience that understands that life with a cat is sometimes not all purrs and jingle balls. She is going to need some time to come to trust her new "staff" (she was abandoned by her previous family). But as all true cat-lovers know, the "challenging" cats are the ones with the most personality and the ones you love the best.

About Our Rescue Group...

Toronto Cat Rescue is a registered, no-kill charity run by volunteers.

Our registered charity number: 889-198-727-RR-0001

Our Adoption Process...

Decided on the cat or kitten you would like to adopt? Please call 416-538-8592, or email

An adoption counsellor will return your call and give you more details about the cat you are interested in and ask some questions about your home to make sure the cat will be a "purr-fect" fit. We are happy to answer any questions you may have as well.

You will be supplied with the foster home address to have a meet and greet with your kitty. If both parties are happy, you can sign the TCR Contract of Adoption, pay the adoption fee and take your cat home with you in a safe carrying case.

Adoption fee is $175 per cat. This ensures that the cats that come into our care receive the attention they need, are spayed or neutered, and receive a rabies vaccination at the appropriate age. It includes 6 weeks of free pet insurance. For City of Toronto residents, the adoption fee includes a mandatory City of Toronto cat license that is valid for one year. As you can imagine, these fees only begin to cover our costs; donations and ongoing fundraising efforts carry us the rest of the way!

1. ALL senior cats (8 years or older) have an adoption fee of the adopters choice, vs. our standard adoption fee of $175.

2. Our adoption fee for an adult bonded pair (8 months or older) is $100 per cat vs. $175 per cat.
