Hi! Am I really in a safe place? I can finally relax? Okay. This feels good! I was brought to the pound because my owners said I was "too expensive." The nice ladies at DLRR didn't seem to think my owners ever spent any money taking care of me. They think I had a lot of puppies in the past, but those days are behind me! I'm not the youngest pup out there (I'm over 11!) so I'm really low maintenance! My foster mama hasn't had me very long, but I haven't had an accident in the house, so she thinks I'm housetrained. I’m not sure about this doggie door thing! I just want a nice, quiet, soft place to sleep and nice people to give me love. My back legs aren't working as well as I'd like them to, so I'm kind of slow. But that's no reason to throw me away! I have a lot of love to give, and an endless supply of sweet kisses for my family. Are YOU looking for a sweet angel? I'm your girl!

About Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Here is our mission statement from our website:
Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue of Phoenix (DLRR) is a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to finding loving, life-long homes for displaced Labrador Retrievers. In addition to rescue, our volunteers provide medical care and/or rehabilitation for these dogs and then attempt to match them with appropriate, permanent homes. We also provide Labrador Retriever breed and training information on request. Through public education, we strive to help eliminate animal overpopulation by encouraging the spaying and neutering of pets.

Come Meet Our Pets...

DLRR has regular events where potential adopters and the public can see some of our dogs. These events are listed on our website at
As noted in the description below of how to adopt one of our labs, approved adopters may contact one of our volunteers to meet one of our available dogs.
Also check out our Facebook page, where many of our dogs are spotlighted.

Our Adoption Process...

Every potential adopter (who must live in Arizona) must fill out an online form and pay a small fee. A volunteer will contact the potential adopter and schedule a home visit. If everything looks good at the home visit, the potential adopter begins to receive our Dogalog twice a week that shows all available dogs. If a potential adopter is interested in a particular dog, he or she contacts the volunteer listed for that particular dog and arranges a time to meet the dog. If it is a potential match, we ask the adopter to think about it for about 24 hours. There is a fee to adopt one of our dogs and it is based on the dog's age, with younger dogs having a larger fee than our older labs. There is a contract to be signed.
