Hi! My name is Missy. My former owners relinquished me to the pound because I was 9 years old, overweight, and I walked funny. My foster mom came to get me the same day. I've lost 17 pounds, thanks to green beans, healthy food and thyroid medicine. I am approximately 9-10 years old, but my foster mom says that I look much younger. I am looking for a furever family to call my own. I am a sweet, quiet senior with a bad hip. I love to snuggle with my foster mom and dad. I am shy with new people, but I warm up quickly. I love to go on walks. I do not pull and if I sniff grass too long just ask me to come and I will. I am not kid tested. I am fine with my indoor feline friends, even when they insist on rubbing against me and shaking their tails in my face. Outside cats are a different story. My foster mom and dad love me a lot and wanted to keep me, but I have a personality conflict with their mixed breed dog, who is a diva, but I do fine with the border collie who lives here. My foster mom thinks the pain in my hip causes me to be grumpy with the diva dog. I can stay in a crate, but when my foster mom found out that I was having hip pain from a botched surgery, she decided not to crate me for extended time so I can move around and avoid getting painfully stiff. I take medicine to help me with the pain. I am scared of storms, but not the garbage truck. When I hear the truck I love to run to the fence barking at that smelly old truck. I greet my people in the morning with a rousing "rooooo" and my foster dad says I have a funny little run as I go to my food bowl. I can be pushy about getting my fair share of petting and if you ignore me and gently say "no", I will go on my way. I must be the first dog out and in the door when we go for walks. I was disciplined harshly in my former home whenever I got an upset tummy in the house, so please speak gently and calmly if that ever happens and I will not hide or wince. I will be your love bug and your best friend.

About Border Collie Rescue & Rehab of Texas

About Our Rescue Group...

Border Collie Rescue & Rehab (BCR&R) is a network of volunteers and foster homes dedicated to helping save Border Collies, Border Collie mixes and other similar herding breeds.

The dogs in our program have come from shelters and the streets and we bring them into our homes and provide them with the training and love necessary to help them become valued members of a family. We call it our Rescue & Rehab Program.

All dogs are provided with necessary veterinary care and are microchipped. The dogs in our program will live with us as part of our families for a minimum of 3 to 4 weeks for evaluation and training in addition to ensuring overall health.

Our Adoption Process...

Once we have your application we will begin our screening and matching process so we can help find you a perfect match.

All Applicants are interviewed, reference checks and a home visit completed.

Once approved and you have met a dog that you would like to adopt, an adoption contract will be completed and an adoption donation of $300.00 requested to complete the adoption process.

BCR&R is totally dependent on our volunteers and foster homes, most of whom have full time careers and commitments outside of BCR&R. As a result, we work with potential adoptive families in the evenings and weekends.
