It is always very sad when an animal loses it home due to unforeseen circumstances, but it is quite disturbing when an animal just gets tossed away for no good reason. This is the case for Maggie Mae. Her owners one day decided they just didn’t want to be bothered with her anymore, and took her to a vet to be put down with no medical reason whatsoever. Thank goodness for Maggie Mae that the veterinarian is a kind and compassionate person who said no way are we euthanizing this lovely girl for no reason. OAR to the rescue! It is fairly obvious that Maggie Mae did not have the healthiest lifestyle as she is seriously overweight. But, with love, some exercise, and a healthy diet she should start to gradually lose the excess. Maggie is missing her right eye. We have no idea when or the reason she lost it. But no worries, she gets along just fine without it. Now to the good part. Maggie is an absolute dream of a kitty; very mellow and so friendly. She loves petting and scratching, and just purrs and purrs, and then purrs some more. She is also a biscuit maker. So, Maggie is sending out her plea and purrs to all you out there with BIG hearts who would be willing to give a BIG girl a happy and forever home. She has been given a second chance, and is SO hoping someone out there will come and make her their permanent friend. She will have and “eye out” for you...

Our Adoption Process...

We have many cats and kittens looking for wonderful homes! All of our cats are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, tested for FIV and Feline Leukemia, and microchipped. Adoption fee is $50. Because we like for our cats to go home in pairs, we have a standing 2 for 1 adoption special -- you can adopt 2 cats for one fee of $50.

Meet some of our cats and kittens, and fill out an application today! An OAR representative will get in touch with you to discuss your application. We do require a phone screening before an adoption so if you are coming to visit the cats and hope to take a cat or kitten home that day, fill out and submit the application at least a day beforehand so we can pre-approve your adoption.

As of 3/7/12, our adoption policy requires that the adopters of our cats not declaw the cats, no matter what the cat's age. We will, with our adoption counselors' help, provide potential adopters with information on alternatives to declawing. We also sometimes have previously declawed cats up for adoption. These can be a good alternative for adopters who are adamant about declawing.
