My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PAISLEY is a 5 year old spayed yellow female Lab who weighs 49 pounds. She was given up by her owner because she is blind and their 2 year old granddaughter doesn't understand that she can't climb all over Paisley. Because of that, they said she was timid and skittish. That does not describe her at all!! Paisley is a very sweet.girl. She greets everyone nicely and she loves everyone she meets. She really likes to hang out with people and takes a minute or two to settle down when she is left alone. Her first day she mostly napped in her crate ( with the door open) and did not make a sound until we told her it was time to go out and play.
She goes out on a long lead so she can have room to explore the yard. You have to give her a little help navigating until she gets to open space. She was happy to follow our resident border collie around while she was exploring the yard. She may not have her sight but she has her hearing. She loves to hear the birds, music, people talking to her and the other dogs running around her. Her nose works quite well too as she picked up the trail of the bunnies that play in the yard. Paisley is approved for kids ages 10+.

Update: FOSTER FRIDAY!! Paisley digging around for her forever family and showing off her landscaping skills. Helping foster mom grade the topsoil in the back yard to get it ready for grass. She heard the shovel hit the pile a couple of times and went right to work. LOL This 5 year old little girl is so stinking cute! Nothing like a white lab digging in the dirt. Then she posed for a cuteness picture. And by the way - we are fairly certain she doesn't know she's blind. What do you think? Did she nail it or what!?! If you need some help with your yard work and in turn can help this little girl learn and grow then talk to your AC about her.

Paisley has been working on her echo training and coming to snaps and clicks. See her on Youtube:

Update: Paisley is one sweet girl. And super smart! We are not so certain that Paisley knows that she is blind. This little girl is cool as she can be! She does not let her lack of sight slow her down. She had learned the lay of the land and navigates very well. Whether she is snuggled on the couch with you, sniffing out the other dogs, following smells and sounds or just hanging out and taking a nap; she is comfortable with herself. She wants you to know that she is the coolest dog she knows and she is ready for a FURR-ever home! If you have the time and patients to continue to help her blossom as a blind dog in our sunny world the contact your AC for more about Paisley! Video coming sooooonn!

Update: Paisley can do stairs! We have been working with Paisley to learn stairs and obstacles. And she is learning her own vocabulary to help her navigate. She is happy for you to join her on her bed for some belly rubs or she will gladly jump up on the couch with you to chill for movie night. A real cuddle bug. If you want her to join you on the couch - pat the spot you want her to jump to and she will reach out her paws to feel the spot and then step back and hop right up. She maps things out so she can navigate the same path. You'll want to be certain not to move things around on her.
She is starting to do zoomies outside,on her long lead, as she has gotten comfortable with the lay out of the yard.
