Facts about Mickey

  • Breed: Amazon
  • Color: Green
  • Age: Senior
  • Sex: Male
Mickey is a very Handsome Yellow-Naped Amazon who is approximately 35 y/o. He was listed in HWR program, but is now in one of our foster homes and settling in very well. He is on a great diet of fresh foods and pellets. Although he gets along with other birds in the home, including small birds, he does need to be the #1 bird and get most of the attention in the home. He loves to talk and carry on his own conversations. He is very interested in things around him, will step up to an offered arm and LOVES head scratches. Once he's part of your family, he will love you forever. Like most birds (and people for that matter) Mickey has his days where he is stubborn and grumpy, but in the right environment, he will certainly thrive with happiness and be a wonderful companion! Mickey has a small bump on the left side of his neck which has been diagnosed as a blocked sinus cavity, and needs to be watched carefully, but otherwise he's a wonderful and healthy bird. Mickey is being fostered in Leonardo, NJ.

About For The Love Of Birds

About Our Rescue Group...

For the Love of Birds is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of companion birds. We are a network of volunteers throughout New Jersey, and surrounding areas. We take in birds in need of new homes, and place them in nurturing and educational foster homes until a loving new family is found.

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption procedure begins with completing an adoption application and returning it to us. We will check your references and then call you for a telephone interview. While we check your references, we will ask that you review an educational power point presentation. After your application is approved, it is our policy that you visit with the bird(s) three times to have multiple interactions with them and give you time to consider the adoption and get ready for your new family member. There is an adoption fee for each bird.
