Do you desire a dog that is affectionate, loving and great with kids? Who doesn’t? If you currently don’t have a dog but are looking for one just like that, boy do we have the dog for you! Ginger is a lab/pit mix who just turned a year old. Sweet Ginger had severe mange as a puppy and in order to protect her skin, she didn't get a lot of contact with other dogs which has made her unsure of how to act around them so we are recommending that Ginger be the only dog in the house. She recently made friends with a 4-month-old pit/border collie mix (Sunshine) who is also for adoption so she can be around other dogs, but she’s very picky about who she wants to be friends with! She also did not show any reactivity to the resident cat at 2Paws4U Bakery, so it is possible that she could live contentedly with a feline buddy, but a slow introduction is a must!

Ginger loves humans so very much that she will be the light of your world if you take her home! She has a lot of energy and would make a great jogging partner. She loves a good game of tug and is smart and quick to learn! You have to come out and see this girl in person to believe what an amazing, loving dog she is! And best of all, Ginger's adoption fee has been completely sponsored by a person who loves her but can't take her home. Won't you let Ginger complete your world? Contact PawsUp4Rescue today to set up a chance to meet this sweet girl!

* It is our goal to ensure that all our animals are a good fit for their new family. Because of this, it is Paws Up 4 Rescue's policy to do home visits before an adoption. Because puppies must be able to return to our vet for additional vetting after the adoption is finalized we do not adopt out of state. No exceptions.

About Paws up 4 Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Paws Up is a no kill, all volunteer animal rescue organization serving Joliet, Illinois and surrounding areas. We are dedicated and passionate about rescuing any animal from shelters where overcrowding may lead to euthanasia, as well as those suffering from abuse and/or neglect. We are a 100% foster based animal rescue meaning we rely on generous volunteers to take the animal into their home and care for them while they await their forever home. We are committed to providing our animals with the best care by helping them acclimate to life outside of a shelter and providing them with the necessary vet care. We also strive to help our community by educating the public about spaying and neutering, and by encouraging responsible pet ownership.

At Paws Up we truly believe that All Lives Matter.

Our Adoption Process...

Dog/Cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog/cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies/kittens they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten. If we don't have what you're looking for we suggest that you check your local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or other pet rescue groups.
1. Find the animal in which you are interested in

2. Fill out an Adoption Application (below)
If you rent your home, you must have consent from your landlord to adopt.
You must accept the responsibilities that go along with having a pet, including the time and money required to ensure the animal receives proper training and medical treatment.
Filling out this application does not automatically guarantee an adoption. It is just the first step.
PLEASE BE AS DETAILED AS POSSIBLE AND LEAVE NOTHING BLANK - Whether or not we choose to move forward with the adoption process completely depends on the information provided to us.

3. If your application is approved we will contact you to schedule a meet and greet. You may be required to come to our adoption event or a home visit will be arranged. Please be patient. The application process takes several days as we are a volunteer based rescue.

4. If the home visit required and approved the foster parent(s) will schedule a time for the final adoption.

5. Once you've fallen in love and want to proceed with the adoption it will be finalized with the Adoption Contract. You will receive the vet records and the Adoption Fees will be collected by cash only (or pay-pal payment).

6. You have now saved a life and have given them their forever home and we thank you!

Our adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, fecal test, Deworming and all age appropriate vaccinations such as Rabies, Distemper vaccine and Bordetella vaccine.
