Hi, My name is Max!

Jack Russell Terrier For Adoption San Francisco

I am a very sweet Jack Russell Terrier. At age 14, I am very healthy and have many years of love and companionship left to offer. I weigh 20 pounds and have been neutered and am up to date on my vaccinations. I still have plenty of zip, and love to play fetch and go for walks with my humans.

I’m quite healthy, really. I have a slight limp at times as a result of a ligament injury that I sustained about 4 years ago. I had surgery to repair the problem. I also have some age-related hearing loss, but it doesn’t hold me back at all. For a 14 year old pooch – I am really in good shape.

I live in San Francisco with my owners, who love me so much. They recently welcomed a child, who is now two. I have never really adjusted to the little one. He makes me nervous, and as a result, my owners are concerned about the two of us in the home together.

They see that I have not been myself since the little one arrived. They want what is best for me, and are dearly hoping to find me a home with people who will cherish me, an where there are no babies or small children.

I would love to have some older kids to play with, and people who have lots of time and energy for me. I am not a whirling dervish, but I do like to be active and have plenty of energy.

I would love to have a fenced back yard, but that is not a deal-breaker, so long as you have the time to take me for walks. I’m a really special, devoted little guy, and I can’t wait to charm my way into your heart and home.

I will bring all my toys and belongings with me to my new home, including my tophat and tie, which I love to wear when entertaining your guests! (Yes, I am a real “party animal”!)

Please offer me the loving, forever home that I need and very much deserve!

Love, Max

About San Francisco Find My Pet A Home

About Our Rescue Group...

In many locations throughout the USA and Canada, shelters are rescues are filled to capacity, leaving pet owners who can no longer care for their pet with nowhere to turn. Many pets are needlessly being euthanized.

Being placed in a shelter is a very stressful experience for all pets - and their owners. We offer a very good alternative, allowing pets to stay in the loving care of their owners while a new home is located for them.

We have helped many pet owners in need to place their pet in a home where they have great peace of mind in knowing that their pet is being cherished, well cared for and kept safe, happy and healthy.

Come Meet Our Pets...

In most instances, our pets stay with their owners until a new home can be located. There are some situations which require a more urgent placement, and in these instances, we look for loving foster homes to care for these pets until a permanent home can be located.

Our Adoption Process...

When a pet is placed with our organization, our staff create a very honest and compelling adoption story about the pet, using the information provided to us.

We then spread the word about this pet's need for a new home through a wide variety of online services, and through local outreach.

Interested parties are directed to fill out a formal request to meet a pet, providing in-depth information about themselves.

Before a potential adopter is introduced to a pet, we do careful reference screening and a criminal records check.

Should the pet's owner and the adoptive party agree to an adoption, a formal agreement is entered into, requiring the new owner to agree to keep in touch, ensure the pet's physical and emotional well-being, and provide a safe, happy and healthy home.

They are required to agree that they will not surrender the pet to a shelter or give away the pet - but rather they are to contact our organization so that we can find another suitable home, in the event that they are unable to fulfill their commitment.

The owners deliver the pet to the new owners, so that they can do a home inspection prior to leaving the pet in the new owner's care.

Our organization provides follow-up services, contacting the new owners after the first week, and then every 45 days for the first nine months post-adoption. This helps ensure the pet is being well cared for, and that the new owners have any support they need in adjusting to life with their new companion,
