Evan is a sweet beagle boy that came to us from the local shelter when he was left there by his owner who said he wasn't breathing right. After some veterinary followup, it was found that Evan has chronic bronchitis due to unknown causes. He also requires prescription food for his urinary tract and medication for his lungs to prevent his cough from interfering with his daily doggy activities.
Evan's prescription diet is not much more expensive than many of the better quality diets that dogs owners are choosing for the pets nowadays, anyway.  In cases like these, quality of life is of utmost consideration, but we decided against euthanasia, because Evan is still a relatively young fellow and he is very happy, playing with his foster siblings and engaging in generally beagle adorableness. Without being told, no one would know that he eats special food or has any type of medical condition.

Adoption includes vetcheck, vaccinations, neuter, and microchip. Current on heartworm preventative and flea preventative.

Our adoptions include a foster period of 4-6 weeks so that you can be sure that this pet is a good fit without any pressure, and we are available to answer any behavior or training questions during that time (and beyond, if you wish).

**Local adoptions preferred (within 1-2 hrs of the Greater New Orleans area), but please contact us if you live outside of this area, as exceptions are sometimes made on an individual basis depending on the dog or circumstances. We do not ship animals, as a part of our adoption process is for the potential adopter(s) to meet the dog to assess if he/she is a match for the family.

About Pet Adoption Services, Inc

About Our Rescue Group...

Pet Adoption Services, Inc. is a non-profit all breed cat and dog rescue organization in New Orleans. Supported by over 20 volunteer members, Pet Adoption Services was founded in 1996, although some of our members have been involved in rescue for over 20 years. Our mission is to secure loving permanent homes for homeless, abandoned or abused cats and dogs of all breeds. While awaiting adoption, our animals live in the homes of one of our foster parents. During this time the animals receive any necessary veterinary care, including but not limited to, vaccinations, spaying or neutering and heartworm treatment. Our experienced foster parents continually assess each pet's personality and temperament allowing us to place adoptable cats and dogs in just the right permanent home. Pet Adoption Services participates in adoption days during which time, potential adopters get the opportunity to meet and spend time with the animals in a "real life" situation.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Because each of our rescues lives in the home of one of our fosterparents, arrangements will be made for the adopter to meet the pet in which they are interested. Also, PAS holds a monthly adoption day at the Petsmart on Veterans Blvd in Metairie.

Our Adoption Process...

The average adoption fee for dogs is $150, though some adoption fees may be occasionally lower or a bit higher. All animals offered for adoption are spayed or neutered, heartworm negative or undergoing treatment, up to date on vaccinations, treated for intestinal parasites, and microchipped. In addition to completing an adoption contract, potential adopters should be prepared to agree to a veterinarian reference check and home visit. A valid drivers license or state I.D. card is required. This simple yet thorough screening process allows us to place the right animal in your committed, loving home.
