Maggie's Story...
Maggie is a Basset hound mix -??? - the owners say they are pure bred bassets and they have the parents to prove it. Maggie currently weighs 10.2 pounds. She is current on her vaccinations and worming. Basset hounds are a great breed. They have a sad look with their droopy eyes, long ears and short stature but in reality they are happy, active and affectionate dogs. They love to rump around playing but also enjoy sitting quietly on the lap of someone they love. They typically bark at any new comer but once greeted they are quick to return to their favorite resting place. Basset's need exercise to avoid getting over weight. They love to run and play and take walks or hikes. Maggie is is very intelligent and has the most playful personality. Due to the fact that these dogs are hunting dogs with a keen sense of smell, if your little Basset picks up a scent it may be hard to get their attention. For this reason it is best to have a fenced in yard or to keep a close eye on them when they are outside. Maggie is very sweet and lovable and will make a great addition to your family. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Maggie, a Bartonsville Basset Hound puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Bartonsville, or seeking a Basset Hound puppy from a breeder in Bartonsville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bartonsville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bartonsville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bartonsville paves the way for another one to be saved.
